This is about my daughter's computer/printer and is probably a pretty basic question........but then, I'm a pretty basic guy. I have checked and searched but come up with nothing helpful.
When she wants to print (anything) the printer properties box comes up with the Print to disk preselected. It seems to be set to default somehow and she cat't find a way to reset printer to direct the job to the printer. This problem is 500 miles from me but if anymore info is needed I will try to get it.
    TIA

First option is to delete the printer through Printers and Faxes, remove any software associated with the printer through Add/Remove Programs. Unplug the printer, reboot and install it again.

You don't mention which OS your daughter is using, but that's the general drift.
