    Hey,
I don't know what its called but I noticed it at work and its not on my computer and I'd like to have it. It looks like a watermark and its inside folders and some programs (like winzip which use to have the winzip symbol inside the winzip box) also when your in explorer and you select certian folders they have there own wallpaper? I know when you open control panel in explorer there are gears or something like that? Does anyone know what they are called and how to enable them?

    Thanks

    Hey Rockit

Those are called "background images" ;) To enable them go to the Advanced tab in System Properties, click the Settings button in the Performance section, scroll down a bit and put a check in the Use a background image for each folder type.

You also have to have Explorer's Folder Options > Tasks set to Show common tasks in folders for the images to show up.

Ok did that and now I have the background images in two folders only. My music, and My pictures. Is there any other folders that are suppose to have a background? I have "Document Templates" uninstalled? Could this be the files that are used for this purpose?

    Thanks

Rockit--I have both boxes suggested by BuzzB2K checked and also get the background images in only few places. Note in the System Properties|Advanced|Visual Effects window there is also three settings that start off with something like "Let Windows decide what is best ". Maybe you have to change that, too.

    Hey Jim,
Tried that and it doesn't add any more backgrounds. At work and Windows 2000 has a background for each folder? Not a big deal but it shouldn't be this hard to figure out.

    Thanks

    Hey guys

There are only a limited number of common tasks that you can set for a folder. Right-click a folder and select Properties and then the Customize tab. The first section What kind of folder do you want? allows you to set the type which will determine which background image is displayed - Also you will notice that the common tasks for that folder change to what should be appropriate for the files in that folder (Music, Pictures, Videos)

    Hi Rockit,

I know that the control panel has a background, but you have to switch to the category view to see it. I myself don't like this view much, so i do not use it.

I forgot about that one... I have the Control Panel set to open off the Start Menu so I never see that view.

I also have everything in Windows set to Classic so I don't see any of the backgrounds or the common tasks. I temporarily went back to the Playschool... I mean Luna Style just to answer Rockit's original question ;)

BTW - There is also an image on the Search page...
