Is there a way to use roaming profiles without mapped drives following the user?

We have branches where the M:\ drive on the workstations is mapped to the branch server, but other drives are mapped to shares on a server at the main location. Some users rotate from the main location to the branch at times. We are updating to XP Pro on our workstations and are interested in using roaming profiles to keep their desktops the same at each login. However, the mapped drives need to remain unchanged from user to user. All locations are in the same domain.

To make sure I have things correct - you want each user to have an identical set of mapped drives with a roaming profile or will there be differences?

For instance, we have my documents for each user redirected and pointing to their specific personal share on a main file server but a 'normal' mapped drive G:\ pointing to a group share on another file server.

The mapped drives will be different depending on the location the user is at. For example:

    Branch #1
Workstation Drive M:\ is mapped to share on Branch #1 Server

    Branch #2
Workstation Drive M:\ is mapped to share on Branch #2 Server

    Main Location
Workstation Drive M:\ is mapped to share on Main Location Server

Users rotate between Main Location and Branches. The software they run is installed on each server due to branch balancing, etc. So the workstations at each branch must be mapped to the server for that branch. My question is how do I set up roaming profiles so that a user can move between locations without messing up the drive mapping that needs to be in place?

    Thanks,

    OK. Got it now. Thanks.

You mentioned a single domain. Is each of the branches on a different subnet?

No, but they do have a different Gateway as there are T-1s in a frame relay system going to each location. Here are examples of the IP addresses at each location.

    Branch #1
    IP xxx.xx.1.26
    Subnet 255.255.255.0
    Gateway xxx.xx.1.1

    Branch #2
    IP xxx.xx.2.26
    Subnet 255.255.255.0
    Gateway xxx.xx.2.1

    MainLocation
    IP xxx.xx.3.26
    Subnet 255.255.255.0
    Gateway xxx.xx.3.1

    Thanks,

    CR
