After restoring my system windows no longer knows what to do with any *.reg files and trys to search the web for answers? It use to merge them just by double clicking on them. Anybody know how to restore this feature?

    Thanks

Try right clicking and choose 'open with', then registry editor from the list. If that doesn't work, from Windows Explorer click tools>folder options>file types and locate reg files. Under details>opens with, select change and choose registry editor. Still no joy? Click advanced button and tell us what you see there in the actions window.

EDIT.......or you could use the fix Lonny posted while I slowly typed. LOL

Yet another way, from a command prompt type assoc.reg=regfile and press enter.
