SP2 is downloaded, uninstalled and unwanted. Now what?

I normally install everything MS sends me but I've heard so many negatives about SP2 that I have delayed the installation. Actually what I'd like to do is get rid of it altogether and wait several months. Is that possible?

AFAIK, three choices:

Let it sit and ignore it for however long, does no harm or good sitting there.

If you have System Restore operating, restore back to a point prior to the download.

3rd choice, and what I would not advocate, is deleting it from the HD, even if you knew where it was, I don't know what the consequences would be as far as it's effect on future updates would be.

Speaking of future updates....

I decided to just ignore and wait. Anything else seems risky. However I'm wondering if choosing to wait jeopardizes being able to download future updates, patches, whatever?

Hi Margaret,

If you mean that in the sense that Updates will be "broken ", no.

I think those that have SP1 XP, will continue to get Critical patches as they come up.

Any post SP2 patches, I'm not sure about, but I wouldn't think so, can't get patched for something you don't have.

Lots of people and Corporations are waiting, so you're not alone and need not feel so anxious about it.
