    I believe I have some registry problems...as yesterday my "My Documents" was opening at startup, but I received a script to fix that. My son mentioned for past several days the "end session" keyboard process does not work. I've run Spybot, Adware and current version of McAffee virus scan. no viruses were found. There were a few items Spybot and Adware found and were deleted.

    Suggestions?

    Regards, Tom

    Wen I press cntl+alt+del the PC does absolutely nothing...as if the keyboard was dead.

    If you right click on the gray task bar can you select Task Manager?

    "but I received a script "

    Can you copy and paste the script to this message board? Maybe it "fixed" more than you wanted it to..

    yes, when I right click on the tolbar i can select "task manager" and it opens.

    The inability to cntl/alt/del has been going on for several days, the script I received last night was from MVP Doug Knox given to me through MVP Ronnie Vernon...the script is as follows:

    'xp_mydocsopens.vbs
    'Copyright 2004 - Doug Knox
    'downloaded from http://www.dougknox.com

    On Error Resume Next

    Set WSHShell = WScript.CreateObject( "WScript.Shell ")

    Set fso = CreateObject( "Scripting.FileSystemObject ")

    SysDir = fso.GetSpecialFolder(1)

    SysDir = SysDir & "\userinit.exe, "

    WshShell.RegWrite "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\UserInit ",SysDir, "REG_SZ "

    Set FSO = Nothing
    Set WshShell = Nothing

    MsgBox "The system Registry has been corrected. ", vbokonly, "Done "

    I have no idea why, and maybe someone else will know, but XP does not always respond (with the Task Mgr) when C-A-D is pressed. I've seem it work on some screens, and not in others, and some systems, Home and Pro, it either works or it doesn't. I always right click from the taskbar on XP. If anyone knows if this is a known bug of XP, I'd be interested in knowing the details.

    A reboot often helps.

    Johanna, I "think" what you described has to do with the way you log onto XP. (fast user switching and or classic logoon)

    Esc-Control-Shift

    Nope, me either. C-A-D works perfectly on the desktop, not on an open window, either. :confused:

    Maybe because you guys have Pro? Works every time for me.

    I'm going to try tracking down where I ran across that. Do have a dim memory that it came form Fred Langa, either from him or from one of the Newsletter reader tips.

    Me too, I wrote the sequence the opposite way - didn't think anything of the sequence.

    Anyway, glad it works for someone else.

    Yep, Newt's way (order) works just fine. Neat trick! Thanks for sharing, Charlesvar!
