Till recently, my computer would display "It is now safe to switch off your computer" when I shut down Windows (2000 Professional). This is exactly the way I want it, as I have PC, monitor, printer on a Data Protector block, and prefer to have all switch on and off together. However, this has now stopped working (i.e. PC switches off directly). I am not aware of having changed anything in either the BIOS or Power Options; anyone know how I can restore this option?

I believe this should fix your problem goto:

    Start>settings>control panel>power options>APM

    iainphil: uncheck the box
    Spotta: Check the box
