    I use Win 98SE and Mozilla 1.7.2. I used to be able to access the dogpile web site but can not any more, only once lately was I able to get their page to load and then was unable to do a search. Received an error message. Is this something in my settings and if so where should I look? I use AdWatch and AdAware Plus, BO Clean and EZ Antivirus. I have noticed on Ebay I can not access links from doubleclick or such.

    Hi quickshot,

    I'm sure that you have enabled JavaScript? When viewing the Page Source I see:
    function clicktracking (id, params){
    document.src= "http://clickit.go2net.com/adclick/q/" +

    Which means they are tracking the links you click on, so wondering if perhaps a setting in one of your spyware prevention programs is blocking the site. Also, you might check your AV program as well, to ensure that it, or your Firewall isn't blocking the site. Turn off the programs one at a time to see if one of them could be the culprit.

    Also look in C:\WINDOWS\HOSTS Open the HOSTS file in Notepad and see if anything has been added to the file, specifically under the red text:

    # Copyright (c) 1998 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP stack for Windows98
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    127.0.0.1 localhost

    Let us know.

    quickshot,

    I understand why you wouldn't want to disable the HOSTS file, and yes that is most likely why you can't use dogpile. I see on the site that there is a batch file to disable the HOSTS file, and you could use it for specific sites. It toggles the HOSTS file on and off.
