Not sure if this is advisable OR possible. A quick search didn't show anything. There are probably hacks out there that will get rid of it, at the risk of unrelated system problems?

    But I ask WHY?

If you don't wish or like using it then just leave it alone. Even delete the shortcut from the accessories menu if you wish.

I've never used it. But don't care if it's on the system. I even updated from v1 to v2 and still didn't use it. I think it may have been further updated with SP2? :)

Not sure about movie maker but locate the file c:\windows\inf\sysoc.inf. Make a safety copy in the same folder named sysoc.sav and open sysoc.inf using notepad.

Do a replace command and replace ,hide, with ,, so you will be removing all instances of the word hide but leaving the commas. Save and close the file.

Now back to add/remove and you will see lots of stuff that was hidden before. If Movie Maker is there you should be able to remove it.
