Darn, I wish there was a FREE plug-in for CAD files.

md2lgyk - Thanks for highlighting the CAD drawing option. I think Infraview is a great bit of software, but hadn't thought of using it for viewing CAD files. Your post sent me off to the Infraview site as well as the Plugin people's site.

It's not freeware, but not a bad price:

    Single User $14
    2 Users $24
    5 Users $55
    10 Users $100
    30 Users $270

Though you'd have thought that having bought the DWG facility would also get you DXF. If you want both, you have to pay twice so it seems.

However, I have a copy of Voloview Express which used to be a freeware app for viewing these files before it got pulled (I mean replaced with a new App you have to pay for of course). However, I've just run an Altavista search for the install file (vve201setup1.exe) and got this result. This lists a number of place where you appear to be able to download a copy of Volo View Express.

Thanks for the info. I already have Volo View Express (last free version) and use it quite a bit. I actually have AutoCAD 2000 as well, but do a lot more viewing and printing than I do drawing.

VVE is pretty slow to load and has the butt-ugliest splash screen I've ever seen (and can't figure out how to get rid of). I did try viewing a couple of DWGs with Irfanview and they seemed to load a whole lot faster. I may pay the $14 just for the added convenience.

I must admit, the fact that the mouse wheel causes the screen to zoom in and out rather than up and down is a pain. We don't create Autocad drawings but have to review them. I tend to use Volvo view to print the files, and then review the print out. I'm seriously considering the Infraview route too.

Hi All, ............. I'm using the IrfanView ( Ver. 3.92 ) and the latest plugins with a Windows XP Pro system. In going through the 3.92 information, I was sure that I saw where one can change a Slide Show to a Power Point presentation. However I can't find the location of this information. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you.
