I'm using Outlook Express / IE 6 with Windows XP and a DSL account. Recently it's been pointed out that I do not receive incoming mail sent from 'yahoo.com'. I've checked and it seems that this is the case. (When I send mail from my 'yahoo.com' to my DSL account it doesn't arrive.) This DSL account works with 'aliases' to allow several users. The individual using the 'main account ID' does seem to be able to receive the yahoo mail. I, on the other hand, using a different alias, cannot receive the messages. I've checked OE settings, eliminated 'message rules' & 'blocked mail' - and still cannot receive the mail.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    some suggestions

    Hi ...

Fantasma....have a link here for you, but first a question .....do you have any type of remote mail utility that you can check your server with to be certain the Mail from Yahoo is arriving? Also, are you certain nobody has implemented some sort of filtering utilty ? Either way, this site has some really in-depth info on Outlook Express ...

    Johanna...

If you have not already resolved yours, it appears that some ISP',s are using a form spam warfare known as "image blocking" ...images included in known spam are blocked to prevent the sender from knowing if the junk mail was received ...Hence the error 550 ....Can't be 100% certain but there is a lot of chatter about this with everybody on the warpath about spam...

    Cheers
    Jake

This thread was started some time ago ... and I haven't been able to update it since I've been traveling .. (and more recently trying to resolve other computer problems I was having !!)

Anyway - I wanted to document that I finally resolved this issue. The problem was that 'deep within' the preferences of the mail server (Verizon) "somehow" I (or someone else using my e-mail) had checked "do not receive any mail from this domain" .... (ie, Yahoo.com). That's what was preventing the messages from coming in.

I point out that I was on line with Verizon for THREE HOURS trying to resolve this in August .... and they NEVER WERE ABLE TO FIGURE IT OUT. (It was only through an e-mail of a "Senior Technical Representative" that I was guided through the 'preferences' and was able to find out that Yahoo.com messages were being blocked.

Thanks for all the constructive help provided herein.
    :p
