    I am using OE 6

I have several message rules. There is one that is unchecked and I want to remove it. I cannot. I also cannot move up rules below it. It also appears that any rules below that one do not get applied

Message rules are store in this area of the registry. Should be able to delete the bad entry.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{F442D7CE-4A49-4BCA-B2C8-A94B1E231804}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0\Rules

I checked the Registry location and found a list of rules. None of them had the names I had assigned to my rules so I had no way of knowing which one was the bad one. I know when I look at the rules in OE because I cannot delete it or mark it with an X.

    Tenbob,
This is just a WAG, but are there any other rules that contradict or conflict with the rule you are trying to remove? If so, try removing that rule, and then deleting the unwanted one. Let us know what you figure out! :)

In the registry, do a search for the name of the specific rule or any other rule. If I do that, I find my rules and You should find Your rules.

Also worth trying, is to locate the "rule name ".dbx folders in the email storage location. Check what is there and delete the offending one. It will be recreated when OE is restarted. In Windows Explorer, search for "rule name ".dbx.

    Thanks

That seemed to be the solution, even tho I don't know what caused the problem. I deleted all rules that would not go up or down and re-entered them. Seemed to solve the problem

After first deleting the one in the Registry I thought was bad, I deleted that in OE and then deleted any one that I could not move./ Then I recreated those that I wanted. Sounds like a lot of work but wasn't really
