I decided to review the 'Installation History' on the Windows Update page. I noticed that several update installations from October 2003 had the status of 'Failed'. All updates were successful after that. Is there a way that I can re-download and install the failed updates? My updates option is set to 'Automatic Downloads' at the moment. Thank you.

Have ypu tried going to the Update site manually via the link on the start menu under all programs?

You can try here: MS Download center http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?displaylang=en

With v5 update I can't get to the Catalog site anymore to check there. If you still have v4 of MS Update installed, perhaps you can still get to the Catalog Download site and check there - can't give you tthe url beause of an immediate redirect.

Some of your failed downloads have been superseded by later cumulative updates - one I see right off the bat is the one for OE.

SP2 will "fill in" any updates when you install it.

    Charles,

I can get it from v5. There is an option for administrators and when that screen comes up there is a link to the Windows Update Catalog.

Christer, I got it, I just missed it.

Every time I go in there, the numbers are different.

    Charles,
maybe You have it as a separate link and had no real reason to look for it. Links embedded in webpages always end up as separate links on my system (if they are of interest, that is). If not ...... ...... I would probably forget were they are ...... ...... if I remember that they exist!

PS I don't think I'm going to install SP2. Things are fine w/o it, and I run tight security. I'm still a bit miffed about the ver5 WU.

    Hi Johanna,

I'm certainly going to take my time w/ SP2 - Same way I did with SP1 when it was the hot topic way back when.
