    Hi,
My Win2k pro finds my dvd, cdr, and zip as new hardware every single boot, i cancel them all, and they all work fine, i just can't seem to get it to stop reconising them again at the next boot - any one got any ideas.....?

    thanks in advance,

Try deleting/removing the three devices from within the O/S, and then re-start to see if they *stick* after the subsequent re-installation. HTH ;)

Have you checked your BIOS settings?

    Hi,
i've tried deleting/removing these devices, both in normal and safe mode, but on the reboot, it prompts me for drivers, can't find any, disables, and so on and so on :(

p.s. what bios settings do you mean? which ones could make a diffence?

    many thanks

I was speaking of the option in BIOS where you can choose to search for new hardware at start-up, load optimal settings at start-up, or the like. However, it seems that maybe your computer just wants to load the correct drivers for what you have installed. Have you installed all of the correct drivers?

    Hi,
I haven't changed anything in the bios since puttin' this putta together, and it did work fine, this trouble began after i had to change some ide devices positions - same drives etc, but swapped dvd with a hardrive (ide connection) - now this happens.

in devive manager - it shows both cd rw, and dvd as working fine with no probs, as well as my zip drive - i do have question marks by every single one of my hard drives - again - all workin' and usable from windows - but i'm just trying to set up my raid (abit Kr7a 133 raid) - which i've never done before, so that could be the reason - am skivin' off work today to fix!!

    many thanks in advance
