title in the top of the window is "not working properly "
    looks like "&!*@&?*?*?#*?#**?@*?@*%% "

also some eight random letters program runs

    any ideas?

dont remember how to get rid of that... already happened to me.

As a quick check, do a ctrl/alt/del and end task on everything but systray and explorer. Then try running it again. Make any difference?

    You got that right!

    Virus Scan as BillyBob suggested...definitely!
Stop other running applications as Daizy suggested....most definitely!
Run adaware, spybot and cwshredder as seen and pinned in the "Security Forum "...always most most definitely!

More often it's a 3rd party program, especially AVs, in particular
McAfee and AVG for some users. There is at least a dozens of programs
which cause these MS games to fuss. Use the process of elimination to find
out which software package may be causing your problem. Untick each
program in msconfig, one at a time, then reboot. This should reveal
if 3rd party software is your problem. Don't overlook ANYTHING that
is running. It is a slow process but most often successful.

98 and SE both ship tool called msconfig:
Short explanation....Just launch msconfig (start->run->msconfig). Check the selective startup options, then click on the startup tab. Clear the checks next to those items you want to temporarily remove from subsequent 98/SE bootups with the exceptions of systray and explorer. To reenable them at a later time, just recheck the item.
