slipstreaming a Dell OEM windowsXP

    I can not slipstream (http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html) SP2 and WindowsXP-Pro. When I try to do the update /s:D:\XP-CD, I get the message: This Service Pack cannot be integrated into a destination that also has integrated Software Updates. I suppose this is because the WindowsXP CD is a Dell OEM version, it has other Dell stuff on it besides windowsXP.
    My question is there a way to slipstream such an OEM version ?

    gfheiche - Welcome to the Board :)

    I suspect that the answer is no. Not being a Dell owner - I build my own PC's - I guess your OEM CD is either Dell specific or basically a mirror copy of the hard disk as supplied. As the message states it contains 'integrated software updates'.

    No doubt others more familiar with Dell supplied install CD's will chip in here.

    However all is not lost, MS intend to release SP 2 on a free CD at sometime in the not too distant future, but it sounds like you have downloaded the full SP 2 install anyway so future installs will not involve an extensive download - just a 2 stage installation followed by the normal update routine.

    The Dell OEM XP is a full copy of Windows XP apparently slightly altered for use in Dell machines. People have been successful with SP1.
