I use to have the option to use the welcome screen when password protect was checked in the screensaver setting. Now it just say's On resume password protect and I get the classic win2000 login screen instead of the welcome screen. Does anybody know how to restore this feature? I have the use welcome screen option checked in the user accounts. I don't know why or how I lost this option and would like to get it back. I've done a complete system repair using the SP2 slipsteamed CD and it still is missing.

    Any Idea's?

    Thanks

Did the change happen right after SP2?

    Hey Newt,
No SP2 did not cause this issue .. It was like this before the upgrade. Since I booted off the slipstreamed CD and did a system repair after installing the patch I thought that might fix it but no luck. I've searched the web and can only find how to disable it nothing about getting it back. Even if I could reverse the steps to change it I would but so far no luck there either. Not a big deal but I thought someone might know how to restore this option that somehow got removed.

    Thanks

Why don't you try TweakUI for XP and see if changing the settings for the welcome screen toggles yours back into behaving?

    TRY A "SYSTEM RESTORE "

    hi,

You might want to try a " System Restore " to take your computers settings back to a date where your settings where ok. If you are going to do this, make sure to make a backup of your computer, externally, to be safe

    Nic.

I've tried tweakui and system restore without any luck .This has been happening for awhile now. There must be a registry tweak to bring it back. I do get the welcome screen on boot up and when I Log Off it also comes up. Not sure what else to try at this point. Lots of articals on how to disable it but not much on getting it back.

    Thanks

    Ok,
Heres what I think is going on. If you have only one active user account you do not get the welcome screen on resume from the screen saver. You still get it on startup. At least thats how it's working on my system. If I add a user the welcome screen option reappears in the screensaver tab on display property's.
