I found WHERE I need to change in the registry the default mailer for "mailto" (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command). What I want to know is the command I need to put there to invoke the Netscape mailer when I click on a "mailto: ". Thanks!

    Welcome to the Forum, sherjer!

    Hi sherjer,

This is my Registry Key for mailto. I run Windows 98SE, and use Mozilla as the default Mail program. I substituted the path to mozilla.exe with the path (assuming C:\) for Netscp.exe. You can edit for your needs.

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto]
    @= "URL:MailTo Protocol "
    "URL Protocol "=" "

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mailto\shell\open\command]
    @= "C:\\PROGRA~1\\NETSCAPE\\NETSCAPE\\NETSCP.EXE \ "%1\" "

Note that you can also edit the URL:MailTo Protocol in the Registered File Types:

    Open Windows Explorer
    Click on "View "
    Select: "Options "
    Click on "File Types "
Scroll down to "URL:MailTo Protocol "
    Highlight, then click on "Edit"
Click on "Edit" in the next window
Then Browse to the Netscp.exe file, select it, and click on "Open "

    Westside,

In your Registered File Types no URL:MailTo Procol? How about the Registry Key? Do you have the Registry Key with your default Mail client listed?

If you do have the Registry Key, then the Registry File Type should be in place. Let us know...
