    Trouble shooting a friend's computer.
    Dell 2400 Windows xp HE

I can't view Display Properties. Can't bring it up with a right click on the desktop. Any suggestions on how to bring it up?

    Hi...

You can access "Display" from the Control Panel.

Are you saying that if you right-click on Desktop you cannot select "Properties" from the menu?

I cannot access Display Properties either from Properties with a right click on the desktop and it doesn't appear in Control Panel either.

Suggest you run (in a dos = start, run, cmd window)
    sfc /scannow
    Have your XP CD handy.

Does a right click on a blank area of the desktop bring up anything?

Is there a video logo - e.g. ATI in the Notification Area?

Have you ruled out 3rd party software, trojans, spyware, etc.? Check the stickies in the security/virus/spyware forum for more advice.
