administrative account working as limited hel please

ok i downloaded an installer for a program called steam. I try to install the program using the installing but befor it finnishes it sais you do not have access to make the certain system configuration modifications. Please rerun this installation from an administrative account with access i dont know if this is a certain setting on my computer that not allowing me to have the access i should or what this also goes for aim or realplayer.
