    Quick Launch?

I have been trying to follow your instructions for clearing my Download Manager, but I don't quite understand how to exit "Quick Launch." As a result, it won't let me delete the XUL.mfl file. Please tell me how to close Quick Launch -- thanks!!

    Rose Queen,

You can disable Quick Launch from within the Browser, by disabling it here:
    Edit | Preferences | Advanced

To delete the Cache folder, history.dat, and XUL.mfl file, Mozilla must be closed.

Thanks, Ramona. I have done that and still can't get Download Manager to work. Am I looking at an uninstall and reinstall? I've followed all the instructions on your document "Unable to Download," except that I am not comfortable editing the Registry.

Also, do you know why this would happen, so perhaps I can avoid it in the future? The download manager wasn't very full (I had this problem before, so I know to watch that). The only thing that happened between being able to download and not was that I downloaded Adobe Reader. It's a huge file, so it may just have been the last straw, but deleting all those files in the profile folder location should have, I would think, have taken care of that. I'm just befuddled...

    Rose Queen,

Did you delete the compreg.dat file which is located here:
    C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\components

Ensure that Mozilla is closed when you delete the compreg.dat file.

Let us know if you continue to have problems.

Excuse my nose but I think she doesn't know how to close the mozilla in the notification area.

I think just right click on the icon and choose "exit mozilla ".

If that's not it.....sorry for butting in...

Thanks, Ramona -- once I disabled Quick Start, using your instructions, everything went fine. Turned out to be useful after Windows Service Pack 2 downloaded, too, 'cause, of course, that choked everything up all over!
