Wtoolsa, Wsup and Wintools

I am a new victim of the Wtoolsa and Wsup. I have followed the introductory advice in this thread and my hijackthis log is set forth below.

Please review and let me know what I should mark for "fix" before moving on to the rest of the instructions.

While offline with all browsers and folders closed>
Note: if they do not uninstall properly move on to the next steps.
In control panel add-remove program's uninstall these programs
(if present) in this order, always restart the pc if an uninstaller prompts you to.
'Search Toolbar', 'WebSearch Toolbar', 'WebSearch Tools',
'Search Assistant'

And as the last step >> 'Win-Tools Easy Installer'.
it will say an internet connection is needed, its not,
at that prompt click "no" then another prompt click "no" then it will want to restart the PC click OK and windows will restart.


Run Hijackthis place a check next to these (if there)then hit fix checked.

Empty your temp's and and with internet options > temporary internet files.
"delete files" and [X] offline content
delete these(empty) folders

Unfortuatly if you dont get all the crittical updates for both the operating system and internet explorer (any thing that uses the net) you dont stand a chance against these nasties.

1. I fixed 'R3 - Default URL SearchHook is missing'

2. I turned the idiot buttons on the keyboard off long ago; so no worries there.

3. Yes, I did turn off a bunch of startup items in msconfig (including firewall and virus scan) to speed up my multiple reboots while I'm fixing this problem.

a. I am regularly getting advertisements that open into a new window. If my browser is open and I walk away, I come back to 5 or 6 open windows with different ads. Also, everytime that I first open my browser, my homepage starts to load and then a second window with an advertisment opens (it starts with one address and then quickly switches to another before the page opens). I can X it out and my homepage is there, but it is very aggravating.

b. I am getting some strange "outgoing connection alerts" from Tiny Personal Firewall. For example, I just got one that said,

Details: 'Setup' from your computer wants to connect to VM 215-22.VMadmin.com [216.21.215.22], port 80
Details about application: c:/windows/temporary internet files/target softsetup.exe

I "denied" it, of course.

c. I am frequently getting a message that "system resources are dangerously low ". Then I have to reboot to keep working. That is a PAIN.

Disconnect from the internet close all program that show in the taskbar

OK run VX2Finder9x.exe again
click find "VX2sbetterinternet "
select all those files then delete them

then Hit "user agent" which will restore the proper one.

then "restore desktop ", dont be alarmed the desktop will disapear then reapear again

next hit "import reg" then exit

Then its best to restart the PC

Run it again click find then make log and post it once more

 

Quick question: When I hit User Agent, I got a dialogue box that says,

Delete the User Agent String? Yes or No

Yes doesn't sound right since you said this will restore the proper one.

The yes or no question is sitting on the screen pending your reply.

 

It deletes it then puts the correct one back, dont be alarmed

 

Just being careful. I didn't want to get this close and then mess it up.
