Yes, installed to my laptop Tuesday, but don't download it to the desktop - download to a folder on the hard drive and run it from there.

    Paul,
Not really - Windows Security Centre recognises that NAV 2003 is loaded - just doesn't know if it is up to date re. definitions. No different fron SP 1

To clarify - the patch Symantec released to 'integrate' NAV 2004 into Windows Security Centre does not appear to work for NAV 2003. The functioning of LiveUpdate and Autoupdate are unaffected by SP 2.

    Paul,

The fact that Windows doesn't recognize the status of Norton only demonstrates that Norton "anti tampering" works as it is supposed to. No other application is allowed to detect anything Norton that is running and in concequence can not tamper with it ...... ...... not even Windows.

The patch will make an exception for the WMI to get information on Norton and I personally am quite pleased that Norton works as well as it does!

Thanks PeteC. One more question. I am not part of any business network. I am single user. Is it still OK to install it?

Also, does anyone know does this update have within itself also SP1? Thanks

So am I - 3 standalone personal computers - worked just fine. The drawback, if any, is that you will end up with a larger i386 Service Pack folder than you need as it contains everything for Home, Pro and Media Centre.

SP 2 is cumulative - includes SP1 and all subsequent patches

I have some critical MS updates that I could install, 9 to be exact. Should I install them before SP2 or will SP2 include these critical updates?

Sp 2 is cumulative and is the latest critical update so to speak. All updates which are not already installed will be by SP 2.

Well, I turned on Auto Update and let SP2 have its way with my computer. SP2 downloaded and installed without any real noticable problems, it's the hidden problems that will start popping up that I am concerned about. So far so good. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

I read that in the UK a magazine was going to put service pack 2 on its cover disk, something like Personal Computer World, anyway its the sister mag to Computeractive. I think its the November edition wich goes on sale at the end of September.

I know that SP2 is totally controlled by Microsoft, but I can't get the update to work on my second computer. My first computer was found and updated immediately after Microsoft release the home version update, but my second computer has not been found. Auto Update is on. I guess I will just wait for the CD version I ordered. Will SP2 ever be available for direct download from Microsoft or other sources?

Go to www.download.com and search for Win XP SP 2. Downloads in about 30 min on high speed cable. Installed with no problems.
