i need help cant install certain programs

    please some help me out i cant install any programs such as aim steam or real player because each time i try to install one it sais-You do not have access to make the required system configuration modifications. please rerun this installation form an administrators account. And my account is an administrative account i have tried everything to solve this problem spyware adware removel rebooting virus removals everything you name it kellys korner stuff all of it is someone else knows a souloution ill be verey grateful. Thank you.

    Well, if you can't install programs, you don't have the necessary permissions. If you really are an administrator, then you can change that. That was my thinking. Perhaps you could create a new admin user account and see if it will install the programs. If it won't, refer back to the link I posted.

    Try Johanna's first "take ownership" suggestion. Not at all uncommon for the PC to sort of lose track of exactly which user accounts have permissions in what folders.

    Oddly enough, you can take ownership with an admin account even if you can't install and after you are listed as the owner, you should be able to install.
