send messages to others on network

    have 3 pc tied together through a router to access internet and each other for printing and sharing files. is there a way to send messages to one another over the ethernet. know that there is instant messengers but looking for way to other way if there is one

    Hi,

    You could use netsend from the command prompt.

    Go to run~cmd
    Then type:
    net send [recieving computer's IP Address or computer name] [your message]
    Press enter

    Please note the spaces. Also make sure the 'messenger' service is running in services.

    HERE'S a freebie one I've used in the past, it's a gui using the netsend command as per paddyslammers post.
