Control Panel>sounds and audio devices>sounds. Find "start navigation" in the list, click on it to highlight it and then in the box where it says sounds, click the down arrow and select none from the list of sounds. Don't forget to click apply before closing the window.

Unfortunately the default install of windows thinks it's straight out of those movies where you have all those annoying sound effects eminating from the computer. Turning off these sounds is probably the second tweak I do after disabling those annoying fade effects that are also installed by default.

    Quickstart,

    One way .....

Right click an empty area of the Desktop > Properties > Appearance > Effects - 'Use the following Transition effect .......'

    or another ....

Right click on My Computer icon > Properties > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Visual Effects

Well, I use Classic view with no fancy effects so I can't really comment.

Well, it's pretty much the same with luna.

    QuickStart
The fading effects are just that. Instead of menus or whatever fading away when you're done with them, they just disappear. If you uncheck the window animation thingy, when you minimize a window you'll just see it disappear instead of seeing it zoom down to the taskbar. Unchecking the ones that refer to slide this or that will cause things to just pop up when you click on them instead of them sliding out. Things like the file, edit, etc, menus in various programs. Also, your start menu. When you click on start>all programs, instead of the menu sliding out, it will just pop up instead (one of the few popups that is welcome on my puter :) ). If you turn off these visual effects, your puter will most likey be more responsive. It's easier on the system.

I just got the opposite... I've lost the clicking sound with links and would like to have it back.

Start Navigation has a volume icon next to it, so that hasn't changed.

I also just installed AOL9...problem there?

I really want my clicking sounds back!

    Thanks for your time
