    Hi all,

I have 2 PC XP Home connected via a crossed ethernet cable.
PC1 has a DSL link + McAfee firewall and Norton antivirus.
PC2 is accessing Internet via PC1 and everything is working well.

My question is the following: Is PC 2 protectect by the softwares installed in PC1 or do I have to install McAfee & Norton as well?

    Thanks and Regards

The firewall on PC1 will protect PC2, However, you still need McAfee on PC2.

My bust...brainfart. I read McAfee & Norton backwards.

PC1 McAfee FW plus Norton AV

PC2 Norton AV (don't really need a firewall on this PC...in my opinion.)

Now, if you haven't already bought McAfee, I'd look at either ZoneAlarm or SyGate (freeware). I have also ready some good stuff about Kerio. Don't even consider BlackIce unless your super paranoid and have tons of time/patience to tweak it out.

I personally like Norton. We run the corporate enterprise version at work. I have it configured to push updates to all the client pc's. I would suggest since you have a dsl line, configure Norton to look for updates daily.

While I haven't used it, you might also consider the Norton Internet Security product. It is suppost to have FW, AV, and SPAM-Trojan protection.

    Regards,
    Don
