Outlook 2002 import .pst trouble

hello,

perhaps someone can help me with this problem. I backed up my outlook.pst and archive.pst (s) before I reinstalled windows XP Home Edition (with reformat) and reinstalled Office XP.

I am having trouble getting OUtlook 2002 to import the .pst files. I recieve a message that it is not a personal file folders file. It also says I do not have permission to access the files. (when I created the .pst files I remember setting up a password, thinking that I had to do so.)

There is a lot of info in that .pst such as my contacts and such...so I would really like to get this info back.

Is there any way to get these files to work?

I downloaded the Outlook 2003 Add-in: Personal Folders Backup file from the MS site at:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...3A-B7D0-4B16-B8AF-5A6322F4FD01&displaylang=en

However when I try to open the backup files, I recieve a message that says the file cnanot be opened: it may not be compatible with this version of outlook or it may be corrupted.

any thoughts on what to do next?
