    Just purchased a Lexar USB 2.0 256MB JumpDrive. Anyone know of a password protection program (FREE would be ok also), that can be installed on the USB JumpDrive to proctect data? I want something that can be installed on the JumpDrive itself so there's no need to install a program on every computer the drive is used on, that would not be a practical option for me.

    There was an earlier post in July with a similar question. Only thing I found then was at http://www.magic2003.net/ but gather you would have to install the software on each PC.

    My Sony stick came with one. I have no idea if it's propritary or not. I don't have another stick to try it on.
    I have no reason to use it because all I keep on mine is spyware removal tools since I visit so many machines per day.

    Friend's Jumpdrive

    I went to visit a friend who has this Jumpdrive. However, he's running Win98SE and I cannot get the comp to recognize or install this thing. Tried putting in the Win98SE cd, but no luck. What should I do to get this sucker working??

    I recently purchased a SanDisk flash drive that came with it's own file protection program.

    In addition to the link Paul posted you might want to take a look at the following shareware program, sorry couldn't find any freeware;

    Password Protect Folders

    oowee;

    Do you mean Lexmark or Lexar??

    I was unable to find a flashdrive made by Lexmark, but the drivers for Lexar can be found at the following link;

    I was lead to a nice little program called ICE Encrypt (see link below). It has no install so you can place the ".exe" program directly onto the JumpDrive (or other USB Removable drive) for easy portability.

    Now , them released v2.0 .

    Support set each partition as public or privacy .

    If the drive has two partitions, you can install the software to one partiton, and encrypt another partition . So , needn't install the software on each PC .
    :)
