Wireless for Laptop

I have a 4 year old compaq laptop that, if possible, I would like to have wireless available to use in such places as hotels when I travel. What must I know to add wireless? I have windows 98. I am not interested in using it at home as wireless.

but didn't find anything. didn't know what Stick meant.

Wireless card in notebook

I got my sister's router working with the DSL connection she has and put a wireless card in the PCMCIA slot, but it cannot connect with the router. Am I missing something?? Should I have something else?? I plugged the ethernet cable into the laptop and it worked great!!! I need some help though getting her laptop truly wireless.

 

ok, found the problem. the card i had obtained didn't specify wireless b or g. so i got a wireless g pcmcia card and it's working great now!! now i have my sister's laptop connected to the internet wirelessly. technology is great! being anywhere in the house with no wires is great.
