Don't know if this is an XP, Word og HP problem, but any help or redirection would be appreciated.

My printer won't return to the default when I switch beteen documents to print. If, for instance, I have printed 10 copies of one document, and then work on another document and want to print it, I get 10 copies if I don't remember to switch back to one. The same goes for print quality etc.

I have several systems running XP Pro, Office 2003 with various HP deskjet printers, and the problem is the same for all systems.

    Any suggestions?

What happens if you print the multiple copies of a word document and then swith to another (non office) app to print a single copy?

some printers are very troublesome in this regard. They dont store thier information in a DEVMODE like they are supposed to.
My only recommendation on this would be to try using the inbox drivers, rather than the HP website ones (or visversa) to see if you can elicit different behavior.
