    Hello,

My question is this: I am getting these errors when running DXDIAG

    No problems found.
DirectDraw test results: Failure at step 7 (User verification of fullscreen bouncing): HRESULT = 0x00000000 (error code)
Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 32 (User verification of Direct3D rendering): HRESULT = 0x00000000 (error code)
Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 32 (User verification of Direct3D rendering): HRESULT = 0x00000000 (error code)
Direct3D 9 test results: All tests were successful.

Not sure when the last time everything worked perfectly in directX testing. It was all working fine when Unreal Tournament 2004 came out. I installed and played that game fine for a few months.

I have not used my computer for games since that time. Just purchased Doom3 and ran into a BLACK screen during Doom3 start-up. So I tested the DXDIAG and ran all the video test. The above failures accrued.

Things I have tried to do to resolve problem.
Updated my ATI Radeon 9700 with the newest driver
    Reinstalled driver several times.
    Reinstalled directX 9.0c several times.

Not sure what is causing these errors. Any thoughts.

    Thank you

    Hello LDTate,

Yes it does. I just figured out what went wrong. Since I stopped playing Unreal 2004, I must have for some reason updated my video card driver(Radeon 9700). ATI has a new Catalyst 4.7 driver out.

I just dropped way back to Catalyst 3.0 just to see if this made a difference. Sure enough everything works great. :)

I am not sure how new of a driver I could go before running into a problem, But Catalyst 3.0 with DirectX 9.0c works great for me with Doom3. All DXDIAG.exe test run fine too.

Just wish I could remember updating that video driver. I could have saved myself a lot of troubleshooting.

    Thank you for you help.

    Have a nice day.

    Thanks for posting back :D
One would think you'd need the lastest drivers  I think I'll try Doom 3 without updating my video drivers first  Unreal is pretty cool too

The new ATI driver could just be a problem for my setup. It can be a simple compatibility issue with my motherboard, ATI-9700, and the DVI LCD screen. At least if someone runs into the problem, they now can try an older video driver.

Unreal 2004 is an awesome game too. DOOM-3 is much different then Unreal. I have only been playing it for a few minutes, but love it. It is so much different them the original DOOM. Never had Doom-2 if there was one so I can't compare it.

5 Days of Troubleshooting, to find it to be a simple video driver problem. :(

But now it is fun time. :)

    Take care.
