I am getting a message that my prefs.js in security has an error every time I start the browser. Email starts from ground zero each time too. Should I delete all the .js files and reinstall Netscape 7.1?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the Forum, feded!

    Hi Ed,

Is this by chance the error you're receiving on startup:

    "Configuration Warning
An error occurred reading the startup configuration file.
Please contact your administrator. line XXX:Syntax Error. Illegal character. "

If so take a look at this page for the workaround: Startup Configuration Warning: Syntax Error

If this isn't the error, then please post the error you are receiving on startup.

    Thanks!

    Ramona

Yes, but the error says it is in ...defaults\pref\security-prefs.js this article says there is a *.js file under the *\profiles folder which I have but once again the error says it is in \security-prefs.js.
Should I still rename the prefs.bak to .js etc as the article says?
    Thanks

    Hi Ed,

Don't rename the prefs.js file. Do this for me, copy the exact error, word for word and post it here.

    Thanks!
