I/E-unable to go to symantec home page

Have run various web page hi-jack programs and spy-ware removal stuff and
can access any url but SYMANTEC. Anyone help in this matter. Also cannot retrieve any "live updates" from norton's A/V. Re-instlled Norton's more than once and made sure all registry entries were removed before new installation.
Any help would be appreciated...Den....................

 

D.Matura--Do you have a HOSTS file (not HOSTS.sam)?
This could be blocking you. Often a spyware program will enter symantec.com into it. You may have gotten rid of the spyware but if it caused the change in HOSTS it will still be there.
On the other hand, did you update reference files, etc. before scanning with the spyware programs?

D.Matura-- What URL are you using to access Symantec? Has this URL worked for you in the past? Could your Live Update subscription have expired?
If the purpose is to access virus definition updates, does this URL help?

The URL is www.semantec.com, won't go there and comes up with: dns error, always worked before as it is there home page. Also when I go to live up-date from Norton's A/V window it says its checking for updates and then stops and tell me to check and see if I'am on-line with local ISP.

See if you can get to this site and run a full AV scan.
