I recently loaded PrintShop Premier Edition v.5 (now outdated) on my computer which is using WIN98SE. I made 3 cards and have run the program numerous times. When starting the program up, it asks you to insert the CD which I have done everytime and the program finds the CD. Now when I try to use the program, it asks for the CD but will not recognize that it has been inserted. Rather strange, huh? especially since I have already used the program successfully. Broderbund has addressed this issue on their website, but cleaning the CD and changing the caching rate, making it slower, doesn't seem to help. Has anyone had a problem like this and figured out how to solve it? Just to put your minds at ease, I have checked out both of my drives, CD and CD-RW, and they both work with other CD's. They are also both on auto-insert.
Also, I haven't really made any big changes in software or hardware that should cause such a problem. The CD looks sparkling clean so I haven't bothered to clean it, but could it be dirty?

    I'll step on this one

Isn't this ver: a 3 cd set? I did have that for awhile & found out if I uninstalled the darn program, then remove remnants from explorer, then reboot to set the registry, then remove from win.ini the "load=printshop blah blah" line or was it the "Run=" line, whew. Then re-install the program. This seems to "Map" the cdrom drive correctly again.:)

Thanks Rancher. This is only one CD and it was produced just before WIN98 hit the market. According to the web site, it may or may not run on WIN98. But what disturbs me is that it did run, I made 3 greetings cards, and then it stopped. I washed off the CD but that made no difference. Rather than uninstall and reinstall, I simply ordered v.12 which is meant for WIN98. Hopefully this will solve the problem and I will have a better(?) program.

    printshop

Holy smoke! That's a rather extreme solution, eh? I still have ver 3 & it works in win98se:) To determine if cd is bum or cdrom is bum, create a folder on your hard drive called "cd copy ". Now see if you can copy the whole printshop into this folder. If so the cd is ok, & you can begin setup from "THIS" folder:D
