    Hi,

I've looked at some of the other posts regarding word attachments, but the problems seem to be different to the one I'm experiencing.

I have a user who cannot open Word attachments from Outlook. When he clicks on the attachment, Word (2000) opens but nothing comes up except an error message saying it "cannot open the specified file "

The weird thing is, logged on as Administrator it works!

Also you can open the document by saving to the desktop and then going into Word and chosing the document from the desktop. I don't think it worked by double clicking the icon on the desktop.

Have also tried deleting the copy of the profile on that computer.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Olivia

Hi Olivia_S welcome to the board.
Login as administrator and give the user more rights by making him a member of, say power user.

I COULD do that... but as a rule we don't. In the past making a user super-user has created more problems than it's solved!

if double clicking the desktop icon fizzled, then opening the attachment would too.

Check your .DOC file associations, and make sure its set to Open
