canot stop usb harddrive

    Just bought a western digital external hard drive.It say`s to stop the harddrive before unplugging,but windows say`s it can`t and to try later.Have tried later and later and later.Am running WinME.

    I get this too.

    Two times NOT to remove the device:

    1) if you are transferring data

    2) Shortly after transferring data (time depends on file size, a few seconds for normal files, a minute or two for 2Gb files) to allow for cached stuff to get through.


    Other than that, I just pull the plug

    Thank`s for the reply.Went to their web site,and found out i had to disable my norton recycle bin protection for that drive. Did that and everything works fine.
