Hi, If you go to Control Panel and click System and on the next window
click CD ROM, what do you see ? Is a CD ROM device shown ?
Is there an exclamation mark over it ?
What operating system did you have before you installed Windows 98SE ?
    regards

    re: lost cd rom

This happened to me and I don't know what happened. I opened windows 98 and there was no cd rom. It just wasn't there.

I had to quick restore the computer to bring it back to factory status, then the cd rom came back.

I learned that it is more frustrating trying to figure out what happened and work for days on trying to get something back when the quick restore just takes care of it in a hour.

Putting all the software back on isn't a problem compared to the frustration of dealing with a lost cd rom or whatever is wrong.

Just my opinion though. This may not work for you.

    Hi Jack,
Can you tell us what you mean by "Quick Restore" - how do you do it ?
    regards
