Hi! First let me say hello and thank you in advance for your help!

I am trying to install Netscape 7.1. However, when I do, I get an error message and the page shuts down. I get an error message but am not sure which part of the message would help you all most in figuring this out.

Can anyone help with this? I'll be glad to provide the correct error info if you'll let me know what that is.

Again, thank you very much!

Oh, and I tried to go to profile and I get the same exact error message and it does not open to allow me to work with profiles.

I also tried some of the step-by-step instructions in another thread but I don't seem to have Mozilla folders after my download...

    Welcome to the Forum, NanaC!

    Hi NanaC,

It would be very helpful if you would post the complete error message here. Then we would know exactly what we are dealing with. Are you running Windows XP?

To clarify, you have downloaded the full version of Netscape 7.1, and have tried to install, but can't? If you can't install the program, then you would have no Profiles, and that's why you can't find a Profiles folder.

    Thanks,

    Ramona

Hi, thanks for the response. The error message is really long...It first says Netscp.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Then, when looking at the error report, it states:
    AppName: netscp.exe
    Modver: 1.4.20030.62408
    AppVer: 7.1.0.0
    Offset: 00040769
    ModName: xpcom.dll
    Exception Information
    code: Oxc0000005
    Flags: 0x00000000
    Record: 0x0000000000000000
    Address: 0x000000000615b0769

It is so long, is there a way to copy the error info..copy doesn't seem to work.

Ok, the program installs but when double clicked to begin, I get this error message.

    Is there more you need?

    NanaC,

That is plenty of information, and thanks. This is a bug in Netscape 7.1, but will be addressed in the new Netscape 7.2 Release, hopefully due out next week.

This is how you can work around this error:

    Uninstall Netscape 7.1 using Add/Remove
    Once uninstalled, reboot your PC
    Next:
Delete the Netscape folder located here:
    C:/Program Files/Netscape/Netscape

Delete the mozilla.org folder, located here:
    C:/Program Files/Common Files/mozilla.org

Look in C:\WINDOWS\temp and remove any risidual Netscape installation files
If you have no other Netscape or Mozilla Version installed, delete the mozver.dat file from C:\WINDOWS.

Now reinstall Netscape and see if everything works as it should.
