This question should have a simple answer but somehow I can't find it in the help files.

I had been re-arranging my start up files and such to make things load and run more quickly and efficiently and somehow I altered the settings on "Scan Disk ".

Everytime I start up the computer after an improper shut down (which happened a lot last week when I installed a program that kept crashing my hard drive) Scan Disk would run in 'thorough' rather than 'standard' mode.

How do I switch it back so that it runs a quick scan in standard mode when it automatically checks the computer on start up. Please note that I DON'T want it to run every time I start my computer, only when the computer is improperly shut down.

    Thanks in advance.

 I'm somewhat confused, is the problem that Scandisk runs every time you turn on your computer, or that it runs in Thorough mode whenever the computer has been shutdown improperl?

I am going to assume that you are simply trying to reset Scandisk to the Standard mode. If that is the case, run scandisk, select the Standard mode and allow it to repair any problems it finds. Once its done close scandisk and properly shut down your computer and then turn it back on to see if this corrects your issue.

    :)

    Thanks.

Yeah, I wanted it to run in Standard mode. I just needed to let it run through a scan to change it back...knew it was simple!
