I cannot find any references to this .dll file - typo ?
Did you try an over- install of Win 98 SE ?

    HI
Thanks for the replies. This has been happening for quite some time, it just seems to be happening more often. The .dll is in the windows\system folder.
Merlin, are you suggesting that I reinstall windows?
A few days ago I removed some unwanted audio files from my Creative recordings folder and today I am getting the error message aand I am unable to remove these files. Strange.
I am open to try anything
    Thanks
    Lewis

From a similar problem of my own with Explorer you may need to boot to the Start Up Disk and re-install Windows. Making sure that it goes into the EXISTING Windows folder.

Do not try re-installing 98 after booting to the HD. Certain files may well be inuse and WILL NOT get overwritten properly.

lewislewis--If you can rightclick on the EGEXTMENU.DLL file and then Properties, you may be able to learn something about the program with which it is associated. Then you could try to use Control Panel|Add/Remove to remove the program (and reinstall if you want it).

trouble right clicking Reply to Thread

    Hi
I was unable to use the downloads as I could'nt figure out how to use them. I tried right clicking on the file 'EGEXTMENU.DLL' but that closed explorer. I did reinstall IE6, is that the same as explorer?
    This problem has me baffled.
    Thanks for your input.
