All of a sudden I can't open certain HTML links on Netscape (but can open them in MS Explorer). I get the message to download and install Personal Security manager. I download it from the NS site but when I try to install it by clicking on the file it doesn't know what to do. if I try to open it with Netscape it keeps opening a "file to" window. I ran Norton SystemWorks and there appear to be no problems. How do I get this sucker to install? I also tried to remove the .Na2 but that doesn't work either. why can't NS install its own programs?

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Graham,

What is the link you used for the PSM download?

Are you trying to access https sites, such as your Bank, etc.

To be able to download & install software you have to give Netscape permission in Preferences: Edit | Preferences | Advanced | Software Installation

I leave this disabled until I want to use it. Once I have installed, whatever I have selected, usually an XPI file, I immediately disable the option. I NEVER enable "Check for updates ".

    PSM installation NS 7.1

    Hi Ramona

Solve one problem, another pops up. I haven't had this one before and I've been running 7.1 since the beginning. I do have the Software Installation window checked so it's on. I downloaded PSM from the netscape site into a download folder. It shows up as psm 32 476.jar.na2. I've never been able to do anything with an .na2 file. Netscape keeps saying it doesn't know how to handle an na2 file and takes me to the programs window. If I try to have it handled by Netscape it again asks me where I want it filed etc., so I delete the .na2 and most of the time Windows handles it. This program didn't want to install either so I deleted the .na2 and it still won't load. If I use MS Explorer on the same web site everything opens correctly.

    Any Thoughts?

    Regards,

    Graham

HJi Ramona I did a Google and this is the link to Mozilla where I downloaded Personal Security Manager. Since your suggestion I haven't tried to install it.

    Graham

    Graham,

The PSM is built into Netscape 7, and you shouldn't install what you found. You already have it. In Netscape 7 it is found here:

    Edit | Preferences | Privacy & Security | Certificates

Sorry that your thread fell through the cracks, and thanks for booting it to the top!

Give me some of the links you are unable to access.

    Ramona
