Lately I am frequently unable to forward or reply directly from an e mail. It occasionally works, but seldom. Is this possibly a result of a windows update patch? I'm stumped.

It immediately bounces. faster than would seem possible to have gone to a mail server and back.

Not likely to be upgrade/patch related.

Is there any pattern to it such as certain people always do or do not work, certain mail servers always do or do not work?

Any chance you could use Outlook Express for a couple of days to see if it has the same issues?

Can you always sucessfully reply or forward to yourself?

Is this a simple Outlook situation or are you working from an Exchange Server?

Certain addresses to which I regularly forwarded no longer work. Not sure about servers.
I could reconfigure to use O.E. if necessary
I haven't tried forwarding or replying to myself. I shall directly.

    Thanks for your help.

Just tried forwarding to myself. Got this error notification:
"The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. Server response: 550 relaying to (my addy)... "
Thing is, the yellow error notification in outlook comes up so fast, my finger is still on the mouse button. I have cable, but nothing that fast.

SMTP Relay Blocking Error Message When You Send Messages
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290842&Product=ol2002

    CAUSE

This behavior may occur if you have one of the following configurations:

You are logged on to a Local Area Network (LAN) that has an Internet gateway and you try to send messages through an ISP's SMTP gateway.

You are logged on to an ISP and you try to send messages through another ISP's SMTP gateway.

You are using a cable modem or ADSL to get to another ISP and you try to send messages.

This behavior affects all messaging clients, regardless of the manufacturer.

this would explain almost all of it. I currently have 2 I.S.P.s, and mail forwarded from my domain addresses. I guess I should pick one, and be done with it. Thank you for your help.
