    Need more information first.

    - operating systems of the PCs involved
    - What sort of LAN
    .. Domain
    .. Peer to Peer (workgroup)
    - exactly how you are trying to connect
.. via modem on the LAN PC you want to control
.. via a server designed to give you access to a corporate LAN

And not sure what you mean about PCAW working as a stand alone.

    ans: over the internet DSL

    Lets say your PCs are
PC-A with ip address 192.168.0.1 and running ICS as the host PC
PC-B with ip address 192.168.0.1 and PCAW running in a 'waiting for connection' mode.

What happens if PC-A tried to start a session to remote control PC-B using it's IP address?
Sorry but still confused on this one. I gathered from your first response that the 2 PCs were using the same WAP and that one was acting as ICS host/gateway for the other.

Do you mean they are also sharing files/folders/printers and that you lose internet connection for one of them when they have the shares active or something eles? If something else, please give more details.

No A and B work fine. I can connect over the internet from Pc-C to PC-A, when Pc-B is not networked to PC-A.

OK thanks. I understand your setup now.

Not good news though I'm afraid. According to Microsoft, if ICS is enabled, PCAW can't connect. Here is an article but it basically just says you can't do it. The article does say it is 98/ME related though and from the number it is not real recent. PCAW may have a new version that gets around the problem. Not sure since I haven't used the app for remote control for a few years now.

You may have to go with another remote control product that does play nice with ICS or maybe go with a router/switch rather than ICS for the interet connection sharing.

If this is an important part of your business, I would suggest you swap your DSL modem for a DSL router with VPN facility. Then use a similar device for PC-C. Then you can drop Internet Connection Sharing and use the router to share the internet connection (It becomes the default gateway).

Once that is set up (the router will take the 81.86.XXX.XXX address as it's external address rather than PC-A) you can set up a VPN link between the router supporting PC-A and PC-B, and the Router supporting PC-C.

With the VPN in place you'll be able to connect with PC Anywhere over the VPN link. Note for this to work, I would suggest that you use 192.168.0.x addresses at one site, and 192.168.1.x addresses at the other. If you use 192.168.0.x at both sites you won't be able to route between the two.
