I am trying to condense a video so it is short enough to attach and send with an e-mail. It was 22.7 and when I put it in a compressed zip folder (windows xp) it compressed to 22.4. So... either that compressed folder is pretty useless, or I don't know what I'm doing ... always a possibility! AOL only sends attachments up to 16, and yahoo wouldn't even think about sending it. So... any ideas how to squeeze it just a bit more?
    Thanks
    Vicki:rolleyes:

Windows video (WMV, AVI etc) don't compress well because they're already cut down quite a lot.

Once thing you could try. Head over to www.winace.com and install Winace. It's a lot like WinZip but in my experience the "maximum" setting shrinks things down just a little bit more than WinZip. Winace also has an option to split the file so you could send it in 2 emails.

    Hello

To shrink your AVI file you need a codec
    (compressor/decompressor)and also an editor
to load the AVI file, apply the codec and
    save it to your HD.
The best you can do is to use DivX4.12 codec
    which you can get from:

    http://home.no.net/boligego/codec/DivX412Codec.exe

To install it,just double click DivX412Codec.exe
    and follow its hints.
Then you need an editor,so download Virtual Dub,
which is one of the best:

    http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdub/VirtualDub-1_4_7.zip

To install VirtualDub:create a new folder at C:\Program Files,
rename it to VDub and extract the VirtualDub-1_4_7.zip content
there.Create a shortcut on desktop and double click it to start
Virtual Dub.To shrink down your AVI with VirtualDub :
-go to File>Open video file and select your AVI file
-go to Video>Compression>DivXCdec 4.12 and change the
"Output video bitstream at" at 1500 (and don't change anything
    else for now)
    -go to Audio,select Full processing mode,again Audio>Compresion
and select MPEG Layer-3 to shrink the sound too;if you don't have
that option, try to decrease the sound size at Audio>Conversion.

    Note:
-MPEG Layer-3 is the codec for MP3 audio format. To get it
you need to download WMPlayer 6.4 from Microsoft site.
(go to www.google.com and type WMPlayer 6.4 to find the
    download page)

Please let me know how it worked.

    Stefan
