Files permission in win2k pro, allow and deny: Full control, modify, read&execute, read, write.

    1. first, full control means everything, so it is easy to understand.

    2. but "modify" is it the same as "write? "

    3. I found that I could allow "read" without allowing "read&execute ". which seemed a strange way to select words.

    4. I also found that I could not denying "modify" without denying also "read" and "read& execute "?

    Pretty confusing. :(

Additional note(when editing): I created a test file and set permission to deny write. Then I use a telnet software to connect from a win98(same network). And I could delete that file!!! This is incredible. It seemed that anybody can delete all my files the same way.

A permission denial always overrides a granted permission.
