additions to the "Windows Advanced option menu"

is there a way to to add additional operating systems to this menu.
I want to be able to press f8 and select linux or let XP boot by default.
I don't want a boot menu to be presented unless I want to select another system.

 

Boot managers are how systems boot with multiple Operating Sytems installed or you swap hard drives. It's got nothing to do with Windows. It's the computer that's trying to boot you.

 

On my machine (dual boot - Win 2K and Win XP) it boots to Win XP by default unless I select Win 2k manually during the boot process. When I throw Linux into the mix and use a third-party bootloader (i.e. 'Grub'), you still specify the 'default' OS. HTH

the windows boot menu is not going to let you add linux to it. I dont know if lilo or whatever linux is using allows you to go the other way.

 

I've never tried this but apparently it is possible to add it to the XP boot menu.
