I'm trying to install a beta version of a new game, when I boot it up the screen goes black and I get a red box in the middle of the black with the following words in it...

    Attention

Signal frequency is out of range

    Please change signal timing.

I tried to "Print screen" so as I could show this here and I actually got pictures of the boot up screens of the game and the music was playing also.

Can anyone shed any light on what the problem or solution may be?

    Thanks in advance.

Nope...Its working on my partners machine very well...which is just next to mine here..Mine is of a slightly higher spec than hers is too. We can only put it down to a setting on my nvidia geforce 5600XT (256mb), but which one? I have tried running it with different screen resolutions, colour modes and screen refresh rates...

Peter..Thanks for sticking with me on this one so far..:)

I tried the info from nvidia site (I had already tried that anyway..but hey).

I've just swapped monitors with my partners machine and the game will run on my partners machine/my monitor combination.

She has a ati radeon 128mb card and 128mb ram wheras I am using a nvidia geforce 5600XT 256mb card with 1.5gb ram. I think it must be a setting on my card...I just dont know which...

You may be correct here - a bit out of my league as a non-gamer and Matrox user for graphics (Photoshop).

I can't help you further, but I've edited your thread title which may draw a few others in.

Sounds like the game is trying to lock in a refresh rate beyond what your monitor can display.
See if you can change the refresh rate of the game to 60Hz.
Try changing it to windowed mode instead of full screen
Try this: http://www.voodoofiles.com/2633 (note that you may have to juggle your video card drivers around for this tool to work)
