I just put together a Athlon xp 2500 system and windows XP will not install on it

i keep getting the error "The file adpu160m.sys is corrupted" and the install will just stop.

any help here would be very appreciated.

-what i have learned so far by looking around the net, is that it is a driver for some scsi 160 drive... and i have nothing of the sort.

I have a hitachi 80 gig drive and a lite on 52x burner. thats it.

    Welcome to the board birostick.
Is this a new 80 gig hd?
Only one CD drive? Do you have a Floppy Disk Drive?

Ok, lets hope it's just a corrupt file, adpu160m.sys. Go to the link bellow and download the boot disk's for your OS. See if you can do the install using them. You might need to have the OS cd in the cd drive also.

I see from the Net that someone else with this same problem loaded XP from another CD drive/DVD drive and that fixed the problem.

    Worth a try?

Paul, I saw that also, that's why I asked him
Would be easier if he had another cd drive ;)
