I recently built a new system and went to install XP and the install hangs at
the initial stages of install while loading driver support for PCMCIA.
I have multiple copies of this XP CD, and they all hang at the same place.
I know the CD's are good because I used them to install just two days ago
    on a different system.

All parts are new I have tested memory with Memtest86 and tested a the
HD. Both had No errors. I also wrote the HD with zeros before trying
the install, Also tried to disable several of the devices in BIOS before
the install etc Giga LAN and so on.

I am wondering if there isn't a new component or device on the new
MotherBoard that Windows is not compatible with and maybe I need the
    SP1a with it.

Following is a list of components & O/S version:

    Windows XP Ver. 2002
    ASUS A7N8X E-Deluxe (BIOS Rev. 1009)
    XP3000 Barton (333)
2x512 Kingston HyperX 3200 HK2 Using only 1x512 during install
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro (only used part on system)
    WDSE 80G HD
    ASUS DVD ROM (16x)
    Pioneer DVD R/RW+-
    Sony Floppy 3.5

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have multiple copies of this XP CD -> Is this because you work for MicroSoft?

I dunno Steve R. I don't work for Microsoft and I think at last count I have 2 PCs but 4 copies of XP-pro and two copies of XP-home, all legit, all mine, and none bought.

DLTodaro - welcome to the forum.

Certainly might be worth the time to burn yourself a slipstreamed CD with XP and SP1a to try the install.

Good how-to article Here if you need it.

Also would be worth a try to strip the PC of anything it can run without and try the install then add back any hardware you removed.

Answer to first response. No don't work at MS. And all copies are
    Legit.

As for as second response I have stripped PC down bare with only
MB & CPU, Graphics, HD, CDRom, Floppy. No cards, No luck.

I currently did slipstream SP1 in XP, had no problem with that
but have been having a problem with copying the Microsoft Corporation.Img
file over to be burned in Nero. Everytime I try to copy it over it causes an internal error with Nero and shuts it down. I'm using Nero 6 ultra.

    Any Ideas
